Reservoir Wood Redwood

History

Reservoir Wood Redwood
Reservoir Wood Redwood

Much of the drinking water in the Bay Area is stored in large concrete reservoirs that are nearly the size of a football stadium. Post and beam construction is used to support the large roofs that cover the reservoirs. Over time these wooden members age and are replaced. Mission Bell is fortunate to have reclaimed Redwood and Cedar beams. Built of old growth wood, some of the material has unique mineral deposits from the water and interesting paint and nail holes that reflect its former use.
